DIY, Kumo Shibori

So I have been dyeing (haha) to try the Kumo Shibori technique that I found on Honestly WTF (which the above images are from).  I got some rubber bands, pebbles, and white scarf.

I had a lot of fun doing this, and loved how the scarf turned out.  It would be great on a number of applications from pillows to old clothes. I used rubber bands to wrap the white scarf fabric over pebbles that I bought from the dollar store.  A couple of things I didn’t like.  I used a black dye, but it ended up being blue.  Anyone know of a good black fabric dye?  Also, I didn’t let the dye dissolve enough so I did get some dark spots.

The unwilling model is my dog, Momma Cass :)

  1. I love this posting! Momma Cass looks awesome in her scarf!

  2. try Procion H dye for a deep rich black, mix it quite concentrated or you can buy it pre-mixed.
